Pulock Denny's WHL player of the week

Press Release

The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings’ defenceman Ryan Pulock is the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 17, 2013.

Pulock recorded two goals and five assists for seven points along with a +3 rating in three games over the past week, helping the Wheat Kings post three consecutive victories in that span.

On Monday, November 11th, Pulock picked up three assists and was named the game’s 2nd Star in a 5-3 victory over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes.  On Wednesday, November 13th, Pulock tallied a power play goal as the Wheat Kings posted a 5-2 road victory over the Saskatoon Blades.  On Friday, November 15th, Pulock scored his second goal in as many games and added two assists while being named the game’s 1st Star in a 6-2 win over the visiting Saskatoon Blades.

Pulock, a product of Grandview, MB, is in his fourth WHL campaign with the Brandon Wheat Kings, and currently ranks 11th among all WHL defencemen in scoring with eight goals and 21 points in 18 games this season.  Chosen by the New York Islanders in the first round, 15th overall, in the 2013 NHL draft, Pulock has put up 49 goals and 168 points in 213 career regular-season contests for the Wheat Kings.  He was Brandon’s seventh-round pick, 136th overall, in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft.

The WHL has also nominated Landon Bow of the Swift Current Broncos for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week award.  Bow, an 18-year-old from St. Albert, AB, posted a 1-0-0-1 record in two starts over the past week, allowing just three goals on 63 shots for a 1.44 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage in that span.  On Monday, November 11th, Bow stopped 25 of 26 shots he faced to backstop the Broncos to a 7-1 victory over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors.  On Friday, November 15th, Bow turned aside 35 of 37 shots he faced through regulation play and overtime in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Calgary Hitmen in Calgary, AB.  Bow is in his second WHL season with the Broncos, and has posted an impressive 6-1-0-1 record in 10 appearances in 2013-14.  He was selected in the fourth round, 78th overall, by the Broncos in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
