Stars defenseman makes college hockey commitment

 Lincoln Stars defenseman Zack Pittman has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Canisius College following his USHL career.

Pittman has appeared in all 13 games for the Stars this season and has recorded two points (1g, 1a).  The 18-year-old from Macomb, Michigan played 56 games for the Stars last season and produced five points (1g, 4a) while racking up 107 penalty minutes.  He was also fourth on the team with a plus-24 rating.

The 6-2, 208-pound defenseman came to the USHL after being selected by the Stars in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft.  He previously played in the Detroit Honeybaked and Belle Tire youth organizations in Michigan.

Canisius College is a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association and has four USHL alumni on the roster this season; Kyle Gibbons (Lincoln Stars), Chris Rumble (Sioux Falls Stampede), Keegan Asmundson (Des Moines/Fargo), and Duncan McKellar (Tri-City/Lincoln).
