Colts acquire defenceman from Greyhounds

Press Release

Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts have announced today that they have acquired defenceman Mac Clutsam from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in exchange for Barrie’s 7th Round pick in 2016.

Clutsam was selected by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the 7th round (124th overall) in 2011. The 5’09”, 177lbs defenceman has appeared in 28 games this season registering 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points with a plus 8 rating.

“We are excited to bring Mac Clutsam into the organization and want to welcome him to the Barrie Colts family. Mac is a smooth skating puck moving defenseman that has the ability to jump into the rush and join the offensive attack,” said Asst. GM Dave Drinkill.

The Flamborough, Ontario native spent some time with the Elmira Sugar Kings of the GOJHL before making the jump to the OHL.

“His speed and agility when carrying the puck, and also his ability to get pucks up quickly to our wingers makes him an asset to our defense core. We felt as an organization we were in need of a player with Clutsam’s ability and style of play and are eager to see what he can do in a Barrie Colts uniform,” added Drinkill.

In 63 career OHL games all with the Greyhounds, Mac Clutsam has 1 goal, 3 assists for 4 points and 10 PIMS.
