Gauthier, Marcotte and Duclair named the TELUS three stars of the week

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, December 90, 2013 - Sébastien Gauthier, Louick Marcotte and Anthony Duclair were name today the TELUS three stars of the week for December 2nd to December 8.

The first star of the week is awarded to Sébastien Gauthier. In two games, the 19 year old Shawinigan Cataractes defenseman, collected 6 points including 2 goals, and 4 assists, had a +/- of +6 and managed seven shots on goal. He never found himself on the ice for any goals scored by his opponents during the weekend. Friday, he got 1 goal and 2 assists, maintained a +4 rating in a game of great importance against the Sherbrooke Phoenix, the Cataractes taking it 6-1. Named the first star on Sunday against Chicoutimi, in a 5-4 overtime win, Gauthier collected another 3 points consisting of 1 goal and 2 assists. He scored the tying 4-4 goal and added an assist on the winning goal scored by Francis Beauvillier. Until November, Gauthier was wearing Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League Granby jersey, during which time he tallied 33 points in 26 games.

The Val-d’Or Foreurs forward, Louick Marcotte, is the second star of the week. In 3 games, he scored 5 goals, got 2 assists and maintained a +3 rating. Wednesday in a 9-3 win against Rimouski, he scored 2 goals and added 2 assists, the same total as his teammate Anthony Mantha. It was his third 4-point-game in the QMJHL, a career high for him. Thursday, against the same opponent, the Foreurs won yet again, 3-2. Louick was named the 1st star with two goals, his 17th and 18th of the season. In Sunday’s 5-4 win against Gatineau, the third of the week, Marcotte scored the winning goal. It was his seventh straight game with at least one point, and his team got a seventh straight victory tying them with Gatineau in 4th place in the overall standings with 44 points. It’s worth noting that he and his teammate Guillaume Gélinas are tied for 7th in the league with 46 points in 33 games.

Anthony Duclair, of the Québec Remparts, completes the trio with 7 points and a +/- of +4 in three games. Thursday against Cape Breton, the first game of their Maritimes road trip, Anthony got 3 points in a 6-3 loss. Friday, Duclair was named the 2nd star against the Mooseheads, he got 1 shorthanded goal and 1 assist. Sunday, against Charlottetown, the Remparts won 6-3, two more assists for the 3rd rounder of the New York Rangers in 2013. Duclair climbed to 10th in the league’s scoring race with 42 points in 31 games, while being 4th in goals (24).
