Hitmen captain commits to Northeastern University

Press Release

Wayne, NJ - The Jersey Hitmen Premier team is proud to announce that two year veteran and assistant captain, Trevor Owens, has accepted a scholarship to attend Northeastern University next fall. The 6’1 210lb, Owens, will add size, speed and tenacity to the Huskies. In 24 USPHL league games this season, Owens, sits 7th in USPHL defensive scoring with a 4-10-14 scoring line to go along with 49 penalty minutes. Owens, however, is best know for his 2012-2013 post season heroics where he single handedly lead the Hitmen to their 3rd Dineen Cup title scoring the game winning double OT goal in the semi-finals and game winning goal in the finals.

“I could not be happier for Trevor,” commented head coach Toby Harris. “Trevor is the epitome of a junior hockey success story. Working through adversity for 2 1/2 years in the USHL, then flourishing in the EJHL and blossoming into a division one scholarship athlete in the USPHL. It is quite a success story.” Harris continued, “Trevor is one of the best conditioned and passionate players to ever come through this program and don the Hitmen jersey. He comes to work everyday ready to compete and lead by example. He will be a welcomed addition to an young and strong Husky line up.”

Northeastern University is located in Boston, Massachusetts and is a member of the Hockey East conference.
