Panowyk commits to Colgate

Press Release

Whitby Fury alternate captain Mike Panowyk has confirmed his commitment to join the Colgate University Raiders beginning with the 2014-15 ECAC season.

The 18-year old native of Whitby, Ontario joined the Fury last season out of the Whitby Wildcats 'AAA' organization after playing 2011-12 with The Hill Academy Varsity squad in Vaughan, Ontario.  The rookie posted 7 goals and 18 points in 48 games played last season, earning a spot on the OJHL Prospects Team that would defeat the CCHL 4-3 in a shootout at the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was held in Wellington, Ontario.  This season, Panowyk has teamed with linemates Taylor Best and Greg Milner to form one of the most potent offensive units in the entire OJHL.  He sits third on the club and tied for 20th in overall OJHL scoring with 37 points in just 24 games thus far, after being selected to represent Team Canada East at the 2013 World Junior 'A' Challenge that was held in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.  Panowyk will also be representing the OJHL once again as a member of the North-East Conference All-Star Team at the upcoming Central Canada Cup being held from December 27-29 in Terrebonne, Quebec.

Congratulations to Mike and best of luck the rest of the way!
