YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Phantoms have acquired second-year forward Alex Rauter from the Omaha Lancers, head coach and general manager Anthony Noreen announced today. In exchange, Youngstown dealt a conditional eighth-round pick in the 2014 USHL Phase II Draft to Omaha.
Rauter, 19, is expected to make his debut this weekend when the Phantoms host the Chicago Steel and Team USA at the Covelli Centre.
“We are very excited to add a player of Alex’s caliber,” Noreen said. “He’s a guy who’s never had trouble finding the back of the net at previous levels and we hope he can provide some scoring depth. We think he’s our kind of player and he’ll fit in well both on the ice and in our room.”
A Morristown, N.J., native and Cornell recruit, Rauter appeared in 13 games with the Lancers this season recording two goals and two assists for four points along with a plus-5 rating. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward registered 7-4-11 in 27 games with Omaha last season and racked up an impressive 24-29-53 in 25 games with Choate Rosemary Hall Prep School in Wallingford, Conn., in 2011-12.
