Phantoms’ Teddy Bear Toss This Weekend

Press Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Due to the growing popularity of the holiday tradition, the Youngstown Phantoms are excited to announce that their annual Teddy Bear Toss will be held both this Friday and Saturday at the Covelli Centre. Fans are encouraged bring teddy bears and other stuffed animals to donate the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program and throw them on the ice after the Phantoms score their first goal both nights.

Teddy Bear Toss Weekend, sponsored by Hot 101 FM, kicks off this Friday, Dec. 6, when the Phantoms host the Chicago Steel. Fans who bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal to the Covelli Centre box office will be able to purchase Purple zone tickets (normally $12), for the special discounted price of just $6.

The Covelli Centre doors open at 6 p.m. EST Friday for all the holiday fun! Hot 101 DJ J-Dub will be playing all the holiday favorites and Santa Claus himself will be on the Covelli Centre concourse posing for pictures! Fans will also be able to purchase teddy bears throughout the concourse for just $5.

Brave men and woman from the U.S. Marines will be present for the game Friday, serving as the Color Guard for the National Anthem and taking part in a ceremonial puck drop at 7:05 p.m. Then when the Phantoms score their first goal against the Steel, it’s time for the fur to fly! The Phantoms collected more than 700 stuffed animals off the ice to donate to Toys for Tots during last season’s Teddy Bear Toss!
