RoughRiders Defenseman Chooses Yale University

 Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Charlie Curti has committed to play collegiate hockey at Yale University following his USHL career.

Curti has collected 11 points (3g, 8a) and posted a plus-five rating while appearing in all 19 games for the RoughRiders this season.  His point total currently ranks tied for eighth among all USHL defensemen.  During his USHL debut on September 27th, he dished out two assists and established a USHL season high with a plus-five rating.  The 17-year-old scored all three of his goals this season during a three-game streak from November 8-12th.

The Mound, Minnesota native came to the RoughRiders after being selected by the team in Phase 2 of the 2013 USHL Draft.

Six other current USHL players are also committed to Yale University, including Andrew Gaus (Dubuque Fighting Saints), John Baiocco (Fargo Force), Anthony Walsh (Green Bay Gamblers), Robbie DeMontis (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Joe Snively (Sioux City Musketeers), and Ryan Hitchcock (Team USA).

The Yale Bulldogs are the defending NCAA champion after claiming the school’s first title last spring.  This season, a total of 14 USHL graduates are on the Yale roster; Tim Bonner (Tri-City Storm), Clinton Bourbonais (Sioux City Musketeers), Anthony Day (Waterloo/Sioux Falls), Frankie DiChiara (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Tommy Fallen (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), John Hayden (Team USA), Matt Killian (Team USA), Alex Lyon (Omaha Lancers), Ryan Obuchowski (Indiana Ice), Charles Orzetti (Team USA), Patrick Spano (Youngstown Phantoms), Connor Wilson (Chicago Steel), Stu Wilson (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), and Mitch Witek (Waterloo Black Hawks).
