Lincoln Stars defenseman Jared Kolquist has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Merrimack College beginning next fall.
Kolquist has appeared in all 22 games for the Stars this season and tallied seven points (1g, 6a). He equaled a USHL season high when he posted a plus-five rating in the 6-1 win over the Tri-City Storm on October 25th. The 20-year-old also posted a three-game point streak in early November when he collected four points (1g, 3a).
It is the second USHL season for the native of Hermantown, Minnesota after spending the 2012-13 campaign with the Sioux City Musketeers. He put up 27 points (6g, 21a) in 57 games on the blueline for the Musketeers.
Three other USHL players are also committed to Merrimack College; Alfred Larsson and Alex Carle of the Youngstown Phantoms and Michael Babcock of the Fargo Force.
Merrimack is located in North Andover, Massachusetts and is a member of Hockey East. Four USHL alumni are on the team’s roster this season; Justin Hussar (Des Moines Buccaneers), Tom McCarthy (Fargo Force), Dan Kolomatis (Tri-City/Chicago), and Sam Marotta (Indiana Ice).
