Sarnia, On – Director of Hockey Operations Bill Abercrombie announced today that the hockey club has completed a deal with the Saginaw Spirit in which the club has acquired 17-year old centre Brandon Lindberg.
In exchange for Lindberg the Sting trade a 4th round pick (Owen Sound’s) in 2014 and a 10th round pick in 2017.
Abercrombie explains his thoughts on the acquisition.
“We like Brandon a lot. He scored 8 goals and had 14 points as an underage and we feel he was the victim this year of playing on a very deep veteran Spirit team. He is a gritty centre who we project to be a very good two-way player for us. We are looking to build this team with talented young players and he fits that bill for us.”
Lindberg was originally Saginaw’s 5th round pick out of the Waterloo Wolves AAA program in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection.
