CALGARY, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that forward Josh Winquist of the Everett Silvertips has been named the WHL Player of the Month for November, 2013.
The 20-year-old forward from St. Albert, AB, amassed 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points along with a +9 rating in 14 games during the month of November, helping the Silvertips post a 10-2-2-0 record in that span. Winquist recorded at least one point in all 14 games he played for the ‘Tips, recorded multiple points in nine of those 14 games, and scored in nine games. Winquist began the month by posting three straight multiple-point outings, and also earned WHL Player of the Week honors for the week ending November 24th. The 6’0”, 180-lb winger put up five power play goals and scored two game-winning goals during the month of November.
Winquist’s outstanding play saw him selected among the Three Stars in nine of 14 games, including four 1st Star selections, three 2nd Star selections and two 3rd Star honors. Winquist’s strong effort during November helped the Silvertips climb to first place in the overall WHL standings.
Winquist is in his fifth and final WHL campaign with the Everett Silvertips, and has recorded 75 goals and 173 points in 262 career regular season games. He was selected by the Silvertips in the third round, 66th overall, in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.
Winquist’s accomplishments make him a deserving choice as the WHL Player of the Month for November.
