Jake Wright – Woodstock Slammers
First star honors go to Woodstock Slammers forward Jake Wright. In a pair of games this past weekend, the 20 year old from Sault Saint Marie, Ontario tallied 3 goals and 4 assists. His 7 points propelled him up the scoring ladder where he is now tied with teammate Brett MacLean for the league lead in scoring with 33 points. On Friday night at home in Woodstock, Wright collected 3 goals and 1 assist and was named the game’s first star in a 6-3 victory over the Summerside Western Capitals. The following night on the road in Dieppe, Wright added 3 assists as the Slammers lost to the Commandos in overtime.
Clint Windsor - Miramichi Timberwolves
Second star honors go to Miramichi Timberwolves goaltender Clint Windsor for the 2nd week in a row. In a pair of games this past weekend, the 20 year old from Hamilton, Ontario posted a 2-0 record with a GAA of 0.50 and a save percentage of .981. On Friday night in Truro, Windsor stopped 31 of 32 shots fired his way and was named the game’s first star in a 3-1 victory over the Truro Bearcats. The following night at home, Windsor stopped all 22 shots he faced for the shutout victory as the Timberwolves dumped the Valley Jr A Wildcats, this time by a score of 8-0. So far this season, Windsor has produced a stellar win/loss record of 9-1-3 along with a league leading 1.90 GAA. His .937 save percentage puts him into 1st place in the MHL as well. His 2 shutouts have him in a 5-way tie for 2nd place in this category.
Billy Gaston - Miramichi Timberwolves
Third star honors go to Miramichi Timberwolves forward Billy Gaston. In a pair of games this past weekend, the 19 year old hometown boy from Miramichi scored 3 goals and 1 assist. On Friday night in Truro, Gaston opened the scoring in the game and was named the game’s third star in a 3-1 victory over the Truro Bearcats. The following night at home, added 2 goals and 1 assist to his totals as the T-Wolves dumped the visiting Valley Jr A Wildcats by a score of 8-0. Gaston currently sits 25th overall in league scoring with 23 points in 24 games collecting 11 goals and 12 assists along the way. He is also sitting tied for 2nd place on the team and trails the team leader by 8 points. Gaston is tied with fellow teammate Rankyn Campbell to lead the league with 4 shorthanded goals this year so you have to be really aware of him on the ice while his team is shorthanded.
