Anderson in hospital

Press Release

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have announced forward Stephen Anderson is in hospital after he was injured by a body check in Sunday's game against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

Anderson, 19, left the ice under his own power in the second period after taking an open-ice hit near the Titan blueline. He did not return to the game.

The Morell, P.E.I., native was transported by ambulance to Saint John Regional Hospital shortly after the game following some complications.

He is conscious and resting at the hospital.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Stephen and his family right now," said Sea Dogs President Wayne Long. "We are doing everything we can to support the family and the team."

Anderson has played parts of three seasons with the Sea Dogs, registering eleven goals and 25 points in 38 games this year.

The Sea Dogs will provide updates on his condition when they are available. At this point, the team will not comment further out of respect for the family.
