The Owen Sound Attack is announcing that they have acquired forward
Kyle Platzer (plat-zer) and defenseman Santino Centorame (sen-tor-am-ee)
from the London Knights in exchange for veteran forward Gemel Smith and
a conditional 5th Round Draft Pick.
Platzer, 18 is in his second full season of Ontario Hockey League
action after having won the 2013 OHL Championship with the London
Knights last season. Platzer, a native of Waterloo has 17 points this
season for the Knight and is a 4th Round Draft choice of the
Edmonton Oilers in the 2013 NHL Draft. In 2012/2013 as a rookie, Platzer
tallied 5 goals and 17 assists in 65 games.
Centorame, 17 is in his rookie season in the Ontario Hockey League
and has suited up in 33 games for the Knights, tallying 2 goals and 3
assists. The Mississauga native was a 4th Round Draft Choice of the Knights in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection.
“Both Kyle and Santino are players that we foresee making an impact
on our hockey club.”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “
Santino is a quality, puck moving defenseman and Kyle will help fill a
top six role down the middle on our team both now and in the future.”
Gemel Smith will now get the opportunity to participate in his 2nd
MasterCard Memorial Cup as the London Knights are the host team in
2014. Smith tallied 176 points in 235 games for the Attack over four
seasons and was a rookie during the Attack’s 2011 OHL Championship
season.
“We have watched Gemel grow from a boy to a young man over the past
four seasons and we wish him nothing but the best in his future
endeavours.”, said DeGray.
Centorame and Platzer are both expected to be in the line-up Friday night when the Attack host the Erie Otters at the Bayshore.
