Press Release
The
Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club announced today that they have acquired
19-year-old forward Connor Rankin from the Tri-City Americans in
exchange for 17-year-old defenceman Josh Thrower.
“Connor was a
player that was sought after by a number of teams leading up to the
trade deadline,” said Hitmen General Manager and Vice President,
Business Operations Mike Moore. “He is a hard-working forward who has
recorded a 30-goal season in the league, is effective on the power play
and has playoff experience. He provides additional depth and
flexibility to our lineup.”
Rankin, a native of North
Vancouver, British Columbia, has appeared in 244 games over the past
four seasons with the Americans, recording 82 goals and 92 assists for
174 points along with 117 penalty minutes over that span. Selected by
Tri-City seventh overall in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft, Rankin has
tallied 16 points, including four goals, in 30 career playoff games.
The 6-0, 200-pound forward is expected to join the Hitmen on the road
in Regina.
