Press Release
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Thursday they have traded overage goalie Corbin Boes to the Portland Winterhawks for Steven Alldridge, the rights to Shane McColgan and second round pick in 2014.
Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager Brad Robson says the addition of Alldridge will be a great asset to our team. “He’s a big strong kid and a young player who will fit in with the young group of players we have. He plays a physical game and will help our club for the next 3 or 4 years.” Robson added “McColgan has lots of experience in the league having been on Memorial Cup teams. We’ve obtained his rights and will see the direction he’s leaning in his hockey career after talking to him today.”
McColgan, a 5’9, 170 lb. Centre from Manhattan Beach, CA began his career with the Kelowna Rockets before moving on to the Saskatoon Blades and then Portland. In 291 career WHL games he has 271 points, including 84 goals; he’s a minus-27 plus/minus rating as well as 264 PIM’s. Alldridge, a 6’3, 200 lb. left winger is in his rookie campaign in the Western Hockey League and has played 24 games with the Winterhawks with 54 PIM’s and a minus-4 rating.
The Lethbridge Hurricanes acquired Boes at the 2013 Bantam Draft when they made a trade with Brandon to select him 6th overall.“He’s been a big addition to our club and his leadership and character have helped us immensely in the first half of the season. He’s a character guy and his strong work ethic on and off the ice has gone a long way to show our young guys how to play and succeed in this league” commented Robson.
Boes played 35 with the Hurricanes with a 4.11 goals against average, .900 save percentage and a record of 5-24-2-2. The Lethbridge Hurricanes thank Corbin Boes for all his work and wish him the best in Portland.
