McCarran to Merrimack College

Press Release

North Andover, MA – Islanders Hockey Club forward and Derry, NH native Ted McCarran made a lifelong dream become a reality when he accepted an offer to attend Merrimack College starting this fall. Currently Ted is second in team scoring with a 14-8-22 line in 33 games and good enough to be tied for seventh in the USPHL goal scoring category.

The 6’2, 200 center drew high praise from GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay, “Ted has always shown the potential to be great, he simply needed to learn how to compete on a daily basis and mature as a player. He still has a ways to go, but his upside is huge. He learned a great deal as a rookie last season and has developed into the player we all envisioned. Junior hockey has played a key role in him becoming the player he is today and the player he will be in the future. Ted has an NHL shot and is a threat to score anytime around the net. The more he learns to find soft areas and work on his release, the deadlier he will be in this area of his game.”

“It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to play in Hockey East,” stated Ted McCarran. He went on to say, “Growing up in Southern NH I was able to go to hundreds of Hockey East games and honestly I couldn’t picture myself playing in any other league. The choice was easy once I met the coaching staff. They were easy to talk to and I immediately knew Merrimack was the perfect fit for me. Playing for Coach Tremblay is a true test of “How bad do you want it?” He pushes us to become better hockey players, and more importantly better men. The fact that dozens of former players being captains in college speaks for itself, along with the hundreds of successful pro and college players that played for him. I know he is the best at preparing his players for the next level on and off the ice. My dad played at Boston College from1980-84, however the day I committed he traded his old BC hat for a much nicer MC hat!”

For now, Ted will concentrate on his studies and help his team get back to the league finals in his second season with the Islanders. Congratulations to Ted and the entire McCarran Family!
