North Stars’ Delpaggio named Gongshow Gear Inc. performer of the month for December

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that Daniel Delpaggio of the Thunder Bay North Stars has been named the Gongshow Gear Inc. performer of the month for December.

In six games played during the final month of 2013 the 17-year-old Thunder Bay native scored an SIJHL-high 10 goals and also added seven assists for a 17-point December.

Delapaggio’s 2.83 point-per-game average also topped all skaters in the league last month as the North Stars rookie forward notched hat-tricks vs. English River and league-leading Fort Frances with each of his half dozen contests in December being multi-point affairs.

The second youngest player in the league at the time is also currently riding a nine-game point and has etched him name on the score sheet in 18 of his past 19 outings. He was also named the league’s Pizza Hut player of the week for the period ending Dec. 8.

Delpaggio, who represented the SIJHL at the 2013 Canadian Junior Hockey League Prospects Games this past November in Nova Scotia, currently sits third in the SIJHL in overall offensive production with 50 points having tallied 20 times while setting up 30 others in just 24 games, which is the fewest amount played of any of the SIJHL’s top 20 point producers.

He will be recognized on-ice prior to an upcoming home game with a gift package courtesy of Gongshow Gear Inc., the SIJHL’s official lifestyle hockey apparel partner.

Also receiving consideration for the Gongshow Gear performer of the month award were Lucas Debenedet, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Jason Reynolds, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Chris Varrin, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs; John Morales, (F) English River Miners and Tanner Vinson, (D) Wisconsin Wilderness.
