Stampede forward chooses Ohio State University

 Sioux Falls Stampede forward Dakota Joshua has committed to play collegiate hockey at Ohio State University following his USHL career.

Joshua has recorded 20 points (8g, 12a) over 32 games during his first full season with the Stampede.  He has netted seven of his goals over his last 14 games, including in each of his last two games.  He made his debut with the Stampede last season and also played six USHL contests with Team USA.

The 17-year-old has gained attention from NHL scouts as he was listed at #203 on the midterm rankings of North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting in advance of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Prior to his time in the USHL, the Dearborn, Michigan native played youth hockey in the Honeybaked AAA program.  He was selected by the Stampede in the 2012 USHL Futures Draft.

Five other players who have competed in the USHL this season will play college hockey at Ohio State University; Matt Weis (Green Bay Gamblers), Christian Lampasso (Lincoln Stars), Janik Moeser (Muskegon Lumberjacks), John Wiitala (Waterloo Black Hawks), and Luke Stork (Youngstown Phantoms).

Ohio State is part of the newly-formed Big Ten Conference and features 15 USHL alumni on the roster this season; Darik Angeli (Tri-City/Chicago/Sioux City), Drew Brevig (Sioux Falls Stampede), Clark Cristofoli (Sioux Falls Stampede), Blake Doerring (Des Moines/Fargo), Ryan Dzingel (Lincoln Stars), Christian Frey (Dubuque/Tri-City), Anthony Greco (Des Moines/Waterloo), David Gust (Fargo Force), Matt Johnson (Tri-City/Waterloo), Alex Lippincott (Fargo Force), Tyler Lundey (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Max McCormick (Sioux City Musketeers), Al McLean (Omaha Lancers), Nick Oddo (Omaha/Cedar Rapids), Nick Schilkey (Green Bay Gamblers).
