North Stars’ Del Paggio repeats as Gongshow Gear Inc. performer of the month

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Saturday that Daniel Del Paggio of the Thunder Bay North Stars has been named the Gongshow Gear Inc. performer of the month for January.

The North Stars forward had a stellar first month of 2014 accumulating a total of 27 points in the 12 contests he played in helping his side post a solid 10-1-0-1 record in that span.

In those dozen outings he had points in all of them notching 12 goals while doling out 15 assists. He also supplied a pair of game-winning tallies and set-up another.

Del Paggio, who represented the SIJHL at the CJHL Prospects Games in Nova Scotia this past November, is currently riding an impressive 21-game point streak. He has also got on the score sheet in 30 of his past 31 match-ups.

As the second youngest player in the SIJHL, Del Paggio leads the league in point-per-game average at 2.14 and sits second overall in goals, assists and points with 32, 45 and 77 respectively in just 36 games played.

This marks the second consecutive time the 17-year-old Thunder Bay product has garnered performer of the month accolades.

He will be recognized on-ice prior to an upcoming home game with a gift package courtesy of Gongshow Gear Inc., the SIJHL’s official lifestyle hockey apparel partner.

Honourable mention for the Gongshow Gear performer of the month award went to Lucas Debenedet, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Matt O’Dea, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; John Morales, (F) English River Miners; Zachary Kercz, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs and Sawyer Jacobson (F) Wisconsin Wilderness.
