Grenn Bay adds Mike Merrifield

On Friday the Green Bay Gamblers announced that they have added forward Mike Merrifield to the team’s 23-man protected list. Merrifield comes to the Gamblers from Michigan State University of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.

Merrifield, 18 (2/8/90) played last season in the North American Hockey League for Jon Cooper’s St. Louis Bandits. Merrifield tallied 57 points and a team high +33 plus/minus rating. For his efforts Merrifield was named the NAHL Rookie of the Year.

Merrifield is the fourth player off the Bandits 2008 Robertson Cup Championship team to play for the Gamblers this season. The others include Jeff Ceccacci, David Makowski and Patrick McCadden.

Merrifield, who will wear #13, will make his USHL debut on Friday, as the Gamblers welcome the Sioux City Musketeers to the Resch Center.
