NTDP Players Suspended

When the Under-18 team played in the Five Nations Tournament last week, Jeremy Morin, Brandon Maxwell, Jerry D'Amigo, and John Henrion were suspended for three games. You ask what for? According to a poster on HFboards, for having a Finnish girl in Maxwell's room.

"A Finnish (female) that was an exchange student Ann Arbor last year, visited some of her American friends. She had also another female friend with her. They ate dinner with the entire American team in the lobby and afterwards the girls followed the suspended players up to their rooms. This was against the rules. Maxwell was not part of this, but since the girls were in his room when the team management walked in/found out, he was suspended too."

Some on HFboards said the punishment fit the crime but they were at an international tournament. They are there on a business trip and not on a vacation. I have no problem with them meeting up with a friend on their free time but they shouldn't of invited them up to their rooms.

One thing I don't understand was why was Maxwell suspended if he wasn't in his room. Maybe he was there before the coaches found out. It don't sound clear if the players double up and Maxwell was punished because his roommate's actions.

If he didn't have anything to do with it, why punish him? Especially when he's a goaltender and you only have one other goalie.

That's My Take

Oh teenage hockey players. God Love 'Em.

But I'm with you, I don't get why Maxwell also suspended.

Truth is, it was actually Maxwell who arranged the whole thing...coming from a member on the U-18 NTDP team

Thanks for the information and it make sense why he was suspended then.

I give to coaches credit for sticking to their guns on team rules. If players know the rules, and the consequences, and then break them, they should be punished. I also give the rest of the team credit for pulling together and winning the tournament. As they say, "you play, you pay".
