Tavares Injured?

John Tavares left Friday night's London Knights game against Windsor after being hit by Taylor Hall in the first period and was taking to the hospital. Sportsnet who broadcasted the contest is reporting that Tavares suffered a sprained acromioclavicular joint.

London Knights forward John Tavares suffered a sprained acromioclavicular (AC) joint in Friday night’s game against the Windsor Spitfires and will not play for the rest of the weekend, Sportsnet has learned.

The AC joint is located in the shoulder and it provides the ability to raise the arm above the head.

According to team officials, Tavares was taken to a hospital for precautionary X-rays, which came back negative.

Tavares, whom many believe will be the first overall selection at this summer’s NHL entry draft, will be re-evaluated next week.

The Knight's lost the game, 4-3, to the Spitfires.

Over at TSN they are saying X-Ray are negitative.
London Knights forward John Tavares aggravated his shoulder Friday night in a game against the Windsor Spitfires and was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

Early in the first period, Tavares was on the wrong end of a big hit behind the net by Taylor Hall and left the game.

Sources told TSN X-rays were negative and that there was no significant damage to Tavares' shoulder.

The young phenom has 15 goals and nine assists in 10 games for London since being acquired from the Oshawa Generals in January.

He is the projected number one pick for the NHL Entry Draft.

The two networks are across the street from each other and they are reporting the total opposite of each other. The London Free Press hasn't giving an update yet. The London Knights haven't released any information.

If you remember, Tavares was injured at the CHL Top Prospects game when Zach Kassian took a run at him.

Somebody mentioned on the Knights fan forum that it could be the curse of the Steve Mason trade. Mason was traded to the Kitchener Rangers but suffered an injury that cost him to miss the Memorial Cup.

If that's the case, we have our 2010 Calder Trophy winner right now. It appears that Mason will be the 2009 winner the way he's going. I know he's injured now but has kept Columbus afloat this season.

That's My Take
