Nolan gets 20 games

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the result of its review of an incident which occurred in the game played in Plymouth, Michigan on the 7th of March, 2009 between the Whalers and the visiting Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds which saw player Jordan Nolan of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds assessed a 2 minute minor for instigating, 5 minute major for fighting and a game misconduct for being the aggressor of an altercation.

The incident in question resulted in a head injury to player R.J. Mahalak of the Plymouth Whalers Hockey Club.

In making the announcement as the result of the review, Commissioner David Branch stated that “the League is most concerned regarding the inappropriate and concerning actions of player Nolan and we must all work to eliminate these type of bullying tactics from our game. We are most fortunate that player Mahalak of the Plymouth Whalers was not more seriously injured”.

“It is the position of the Ontario Hockey League that player Jordan Nolan of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds be suspended for twenty (20) games”.
