The Palmieri's speak

Bruce Palmieri, Kyle's dad, spoke to the Guelph Mercury on the recent happenings at the National Team Development Program. Obviously not a whole lot is getting out to the public.

"There's a lot of rumours out there and it's not fair. No crimes were committed, but rules are rules."

The best qoute of the entire article is here.

"He made a couple of bad decisions, but he's taking it like a champ," Bruce Palmieri said of his son, who will finish his high school year in Ann Arbour, Mich., where the NTDP program is located.

That phrase is something a teenager would use not a parent. I have to give major props to Bruce.

The next question is will he hold his commitment to Notre Dame.

"We've talked to Guelph quite a bit over the last little while and we think the organization is great, but right now we have every intention of going to Notre Dame in the fall," Bruce Palmieri said from his home in Montvale, N.J., yesterday.

I understand the reporter is doing his job but what else is the father going to say at this time? You see this type answer all the time when a parent is asked on where their son is going to go. They say one thing in a few weeks another answer is given.

Give them a few weeks just like Jason Brooks basically says.

"We'll try and set up a meeting before the NHL draft," Brooks said.

Or even better when after the NHL Draft when the Palmieri's talk to the team that drafts Kyle. They might have something to say.

I am not suggesting that Palmieri won't be at Notre Dame next season but you have to hold this story with a grain of salt.

That's My Take

I feel really bad for K.P. When USA hockey announced thier decision to dismiss him, the entire U18 team was on the brink of quiting if he wasn't reinstated. To say his teammates love him is an understatement. It's really sad that one bitter angry woman (goalie mom),thinking of nothing but getting back at USA hockey anyway she can, has ruined another young man's dream of playing in the U18 worlds.

Yeah OK, there are a lot more sides
to the story....bottom line- kids were disciplined for rule violations. Why would kids not play or throw away their chance at a medal, over someone else's mistakes. Don't be silly.
