Quebec sets attendance record

BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, March 24, 2009 – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today revealed the final attendance report of the 2008-09 regular season and the statistics show that the QMJHL has drawn more than two million fans for the fourth consecutive season.

The Quebec Remparts established a new Canadian Hockey League (CHL) record by welcoming a total of 398,538 fans. The Shawinigan Cataractes (95,999) and the Drummondville Voltigeurs (90,748) also broke their attendance marks.

Overall attendance was down 1.2% to 3,523 spectators per game compared to 3,583 last season. Five teams managed to play in front of above 90% capacity crowds: Chicoutimi (100.83%), Rouyn-Noranda (96.38%), Rimouski (95.92%), Victoriaville (92.88%), Drummondville (92.87%).
