ROCKETS SHUT DOWN GIANTS TO TAKE SERIES LEAD –
Mark Guggenberger turned aside all 25 shots he faced to backstop the visiting Kelowna Rockets to a 1-0 triumph over the Vancouver Giants in Game 5 of the Kal Tire WHL Western Conference Championship series on Saturday, April 25th.

Ryley Grantham scored the game’s only goal 18:22 into the opening period for the Rockets, who shut out the Giants for a second consecutive game. The victory gives the Rockets a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series, and leaves them one victory away from advancing to the 2009 WHL Championship series.

Tyson Sexsmith made 22 saves in a losing cause for the Giants, who were scoreless on three power play chances in the contest.

The Rockets will host Game 6 of the Kal Tire WHL Western Conference Championship series on Monday, April 27th.

Rockets lead best-of-seven series 3-2.
