Volts use their fire power

SHAWINIGAN, Que. - Yannick Riendeau continued his hot streak with two goals and three assists as the Drummondville Voltigeurs moved to within a game of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League championship following a 9-2 rout of the Shawinigan Cataractes on Wednesday night.

Riendeau had two goals and a pair of assists in the Voltigeurs' 5-4 victory on Tuesday.

Drummondville leads the best-of-seven series 3-1 and can wrap up the series at home on Friday night.

Samson Mahbod had a goal and three assists for Drummondville. Dany Masse, with two, Mike Hoffman, Sean Couturier, Marc-Olivier Vachon and Maxime Frenette also scored for the Voltigeurs, who led 1-0 and 6-1 at the intermissions.

Dave Labrecque and Maxime Legault replied for Shawinigan.

Drummondville scored seven goals in their first nine power-play chances and finished 7-for-16, while Shawinigan converted one of six opportunities.

Marco Cousineau stopped 22 shots for his 12th win of the post-season. Timo Pielmeier allowed four goals before being replaced by Gabriel Girard at 9:40 of the second period. The pair combined for 29 saves
