Decommitments and Rumors

The big news in the last 24 hours has been the de-committments of Chris McCarthy who was orginally slated to head to Boston College in 2010. The other is Alex Vazzano, a goaltender, who had committed to Union.

Reports say McCarthy wanted to head to Chestnut Hill for this upcoming season. Boston College wants Chris Kreider in the fold this year. He's trying to get enough high school credits to join the EaglesHe was listed as a 2010 recruit. With the National Team Development Program, he had 11 goals and 15 assists with the Under-18 squad. He notched four assists with the U-17 Team in 17 games.

Vazzano played for Gunnery/Trumbull this past season. You would have to assume NHL teams advised him to make a change of plans. Union isn't a college hockey hot bed. He wasn't slated to join Union until the 2010-2011 season. He will probably play in juniors next season. The Waterloo Black Hawks hold his USHL rights

Rumors

The Scouting News is reporting Ben Thomson, a 2011 Cornell recruit, is on the verge on signing with the Kitchener Rangers.

Thomson, played for St. Andrews Prep last season. He was a seventh round pick. This is according to the Rangers website.

"Big strong winger that plays an extreemly intelligent game at both ends of the rink. Has an ellite skill level and uses his size to his atvantage. "

The other rumor I have been told is the Quebec Remparts are looking at Boston University defenseman David Warsofsky. This isn't good news for the Terriers as they lost Brian Strait to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Remparts are gearing up for a President's Cup and a Memorial Cup run. This is probably Patrick Roy's final season behind the Remparts bench as Joe Sacco is rebuilding the Avalanche for him.

Warsofsky rights in QMJHL aren't held by anyone. This will be a free agent signing. He's also a draft pick of the St. Louis Blues.

I will follow these rumors.

Brad Elliot Schlossman is reporting North Dakota incoming freshman Danny Kristo and Mike Cichy will be on the USA World Junior Evaluation Camp Roster. The full roster will be announced on Monday.

Kristo was on the 2009 squad so it comes as no surprise he will be in camp. Brad somewhat surprised with Cichy but he did dominate the USHL last year which warrants an invite.

That's My Take

Cichy is ten times the player Kristo is.
