Reid Gets Call for U-17 Program

Press Release

Toronto - The Ontario Under 17 Policy Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Reid as an Assistant Coach for Ontario's Under 17 Team. Mr. Reid is currently an Assistant coach with the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League.

Jeff’s appointment comes after the resignation of Assistant Coach Drake Berehowsky who stepped down after accepting a coaching position in the American Hockey League.

"I am pleased that Jeff has agreed to be an Assistant Coach with Team Ontario, stated Director of Operations Rob Kitamura. “Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the program and I know that everyone associated with the team will benefit from his appointment. We are sorry to see Drake leave but understand that the move to the American Hockey League would have prohibited his involvement with the Under 17 program and Team Ontario this year. "

"I am very excited by the opportunity presented to me by the Under 17 Policy committee today and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead for Team Ontario in the coming months" stated Mr Reid.

Team Ontario will be participating in the Under 17 World Hockey Challenge being held in Timmins Ontario from December 29, 2009 until January 4, 2010.

The Ontario Under 17 Program is a component of Hockey Canada's

Program of Excellence and is facilitated through the Hockey Development Centre for Ontario on behalf of their 3 Ontario Branches. The program receives financial support from the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion. In total, more than 1500 players will participate at regional Under 17 identification camps throughout Ontario in 2009/2010.
