Winterhawks Sign Ryan Johansen

The Portland Winterhawks have signed Ryan Johansen, their seventh round pick in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft, who spent last season with the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).

Johansen, a 6’2”, 180-pound center, will be 17 for the 2009-10 season. As a rookie last season with Penticton, Johansen had five goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 47 regular season games. In the postseason, his scoring increased to four goals and three assists for seven points in 10 games.

“Ryan is an exciting young prospect who had a terrific rookie season last year in a high-caliber league,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager and Head Coach Mike Johnston. “He’s a big center with skill who will be a great addition to our young core.”
