Prince Albert acquires McCallum

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – The Prince Albert Raiders have acquired 20 year old left winger Craig McCallum from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for a conditional 2010 Western Hockey League bantam draft pick.

McCallum, from Canoe Narrows, Saskatchewan is entering his third season in the WHL. He was second in Oil King scoring in their inaugural 2007-08 season with 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points in 68 games. In 2008-09 McCallum appeared in 71 games for the Oil Kings scoring 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points.

In his final year of Major Midget (2006-07), McCallum scored 34 goals and 51 assists for 85 points in 42 games with the Beardy’s Blackhawks in the Saskatchewan Major Midget League.

The acquisition of McCallum gives the Raiders 4 twenty year olds on their roster, joining goaltender Garrett Zemlak, defenceman Patrick Kozyra and forward Dustin Cameron.
McCallum is expected to join the Raiders for practice Thursday.

Heading into the final two pre-season games this weekend the Raiders have 27 on their roster: 3 goaltenders, 9 defencemen and 15 forwards. The Raiders are in Saskatoon Friday then host the Regina Pats Sunday at 7:00 PM at the Art Hauser Centre.
