St. Cloud State lands Wenatchee's Burrell

Press Release

The Wenatchee Wild has announced that second-year defenseman Brandon Burrell has committed to St. Cloud State University (WCHA) for next season.

One of the Wild’s captains, the 19-year-old from Brooklyn Park, Minn., ranks second in scoring among NAHL defensemen with a goal and 16 assists for 17 points through 25 games.

“The Wild is excited with Brandon reaching one of his goals of being a WCHA scholarship athlete,” said Wenatchee head coach Paul Baxter. “We’re convinced he’ll be a very good contributor at St. Cloud State University.”

Last season, Burrell totaled nine goals for 27 points in 51 regular-season games. He’s currently riding a three-game point streak, registering five assists during that time.

Burrell is the seventh Wild player on this year’s roster to commit to a Division I school - the most of any team in the NAHL.
