TELUS Player of the Week Awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, December 21, 2009 – Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Gabriel Dumont and Val-d’Or Foreurs goaltender Raffaele D’Orso today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from December 14 to 20.

Dumont accounted for five goals and three helpers while posting an excellent +7 rating in three games. Moreover, he recorded a game-winner. The Voltigeurs’ winger registered 18 shots on goal and 10 hits during last week’s games. Drummondville sits in first place in the TELUS Central Division standings with 54 points.

Marc-Olivier Vallerand (Remparts), Sean Couturier (Voltigeurs) and Jacob Lagacé (Saguenéens) were also considered.

Raffaele D’Orso is the award-winner on defence. The Foreurs’ netminder collected two wins while posting a 1.92 goals-against-average and .938 save percentage. He enjoyed his best game of the week on Thursday, blocking 32 shots, including all three skaters in the shootout, to help the Foreurs defeat the Montreal Juniors 3-2. D’Orso was also named the game’s first star.

Kevin Poulin (Tigres), Andrew Randazzo (Voltigeurs) and David Savard (Wildcats) were also considered.
