My 2011 USA World Junior Roster

Name 2010-2011 Team League NHL Status

Goalies

Jack Campbell Windsor Spitfires OHL 2010 Draft Eligible
Brandon Maxwell Kitchener Rangers OHL Colorado Avalanche

Others to Consider
Willy Yankeff Michigan State CCHA 2010 Draft Eligible
Adam Murray Denver University WCHA 2010 Draft Eligible*
Adam Brown Kelowna Rockets WHL 2010 Draft Eligible
Mac Curruth Portland Winterhawks WHL 2010 Draft Eligible

I am not to confident with the back-up position this. None of the five netminders buying for the back-up spot are have a stellar year but there’s still time.

Defensemen

Cam Fowler Windsor Spitfires OHL 2010 Draft Eligible
John Ramage University of Wisconsin WCHA 2010 Draft Eligible*
Jon Merill University of Michigan CCHA 2010 Draft Eligible
Justin Faulk Minnesota Duluth WCHA 2010 Draft Eligible
Nick Leddy University of Minnesota WCHA Minnesota Wild
Derek Forbert University of North Dakota WCHA 2010 Draft Eligible
William Wrenn Denver University WCHA San Jose Sharks
Jarred Tinordi University of Notre Dame CCHA 2010 Draft Eligible

Others to Consider

Adam Clenndening Boston University Hockey East 2011 Draft Eligible
Brian Dumoulin Boston College Hockey East Carolina Hurricanes
Philip Samuelsson Boston College Hockey East Pittsburgh Penguins
Patrick Wey Boston College Hockey East Washington Capitals
Stephen Johns University of Notre Dame CCHA 2010 Draft Eligible
Nate Schmidt University of Minnesota WCHA 2010 Draft Eligible*
Mac Bennett University of Michigan CCHA Montreal Canadiens
Brandon Archibald Saulte Ste Marie Greyhounds OHL 2010 Draft Eligible

A lot of 18-year olds next year because the 92 birth year is strong then the 91 birth year. I list eight defensemen because I don’t think Fowler will be available next year

Forwards

Ryan Bourque Quebec Remparts QMJHL New York Rangers
Jerry D’Amigo RPI ECAC Toronto Maple Leafs
Jason Zucker Denver University WCHA 2010 Draft Eligible
Jeremy Morin Kitchener Rangers OHL Atlanta Thrashers
Chris Kreider Boston College Hockey East New York Rangers
Kyle Palmieri University of Notre Dame CCHA Anaheim Ducks
Drew Shore Denver University WCHA Florida Panthers
Seth Ambroz University of Minnesota WCHA 2011 Draft Eligible
Chris Brown University of Michigan CCHA Phoenix Coyotes
Zach Budish University of Minnesota WCHA Nashville Predators
Etem Emerson Medicene Hat Tigers WHL 2010 Draft Eligible
Brandon Saad** Uncommitted N/A 2011 Draft Eligible
Matthew Nieto Boston University Hockey East 2011 Draft Eligible

Others to Consider

Austin Watson Peterborough Petes OHL 2010 Draft Eligible
Jared Knight London Knights OHL 2010 Draft Eligible
Andrew Yogan Erie Otters OHL 2010 Draft Eligible
Kenny Ryan Windsor Spitfires OHL Toronto Maple Leafs
Bill Arnold Boston College Hockey East 2010 Draft Eligible
Tyler Maxwell Everett Silvertips WHL 2010 Draft Eligible*
Shane McColgan Kelowna Rockets WHL 2011 Draft Eligible

USA has half of their forwards back and the good news they shouldn’t loose anyone to the pros. Budish should bring physical play and some thought he would have made this year’s team if it wasn’t for the injury. Ambroz is a wild card because he will be a 17-year old playing college hockey. Emerson, Saad, and Nieto are highly skilled 92’s.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Watson makes the team now that he’s in Peterborough. McColgan is having an outstanding year, but can’t see USA Hockey bringing two 93 born players.

* 2nd year of Eligibility
** Saginaw Spirit has his OHL rights.

I think Charlie Coyle and Kevin Hayes could be in the mix for forwards, although I like who you have and it could be tough for them to crack that line-up!

Mike Lee not included? why?

Major fail on my part on that one lol.

Lee is a 90 birth date so hes not eligible.

I like Coyle and Hayes (I know both have been at u-18 events this season), but would like to see them at a higher level of competition, hopefully they will be at the World U-18's come April. The whole 92 group is deep I had to stop somewhere.

Patrick Wey is significantly stronger then William Wrenn as a total player. He reflects the physical attributes displayed by Ramage and is only a notch or two below Fowler intellectually. tha Capitals word is that this kid was a steal for them in the 4th round 2009. Washington's scouting on the kid upto the wrist injury against Denver was excellent!
