Summerhays Ties USHL Record

Green Bay Gamblers goaltender Steve Summerhays equaled a USHL record when he pushed his winning streak to 18 games after making 23 saves in the 5-3 victory vs. Sioux Falls on Saturday night.

The mark was originally set by Matt Carney of the Des Moines Buccaneers who won 18 consecutive games during the 1998-99 season.

Summerhays began his streak on November 20th making 22 saves in the 3-2 win over Lincoln. He has posted a 2.15 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage during the 18-game win streak.

The 19-year-old native of Anchorage, Alaska is playing in his second USHL season and has compiled a 24-2-1 record with two shutouts this season. He leads all League netminders in wins (24) and GAA (2.16). Summerhays was selected to participate in the 2010 USHL All-Star Game. Last season, he posted a 15-6-1 record in 23 appearances for the Gamblers. Summerhays is uncommitted to a college hockey program following his USHL career.
