Raiders sign first round pick from WHL Bantam Draft Josh Morrissey

Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders are pleased to announce that defenceman Josh Morrissey has signed a standard Western Hockey League education contract with the team. Morrissey was the Raiders first round selection, 6th overall in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, April 29 in Edmonton.

Morrissey, 5’11”, 170 pounds, was the Captain of the Calgary Royals Gold this past season. He was the top scoring defenceman in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League with 21 goals and 28 assists for 49 points to go along with 108 minutes in penalties. Morrissey was named the Top Defenceman in the AMBHL South Division.

“We are extremely excited to have Josh under contract with the Raiders,” said Bruno Campese, General Manager and Head Coach. “He is a player we believe has the potential to lead our organization in future years.”

As a 15 year-old, Morrissey would be eligible to appear in a maximum of 5 games with the Raiders in the 2010-11 season.
