Third Overall Pick Scott Laughton Commits to Generals

Press Release

Oshawa Generals Head Coach & General Manager Chris DePiero announced today that the team has signed 1st round pick, 3rd overall selection Scott Laughton to a standard OHL agreement with the Generals.

Laughton, a 16 year old native of Oakville, served as Captain of the Toronto Marlboros Minor Midget Team last season where he registered 55 Goals, 95 Points and added 109 Penalty Minutes in 76 games. He also added 3 Goals and 5 Points in 7 games while leading the Marlboros to the finals of the 2010 OHL Showcase Cup Tournament this past March.

“We are thrilled to have Scott join the Generals organization. He is a fierce competitor with tremendous skills and is a quality young man,” said Chris DePiero. “With Scott’s hockey sense and leadership abilities he will be a key piece of this franchise that our fans are going to get to watch develop over the next few years.”

Laughton will wear number 21 once the season starts in September.

“It’s incredible, being at Rookie Camp was great. It’s an honour to be able to sign with the Generals and I can’t wait to get the season started.” said Laughton. “Coming from a tremendous organization like the Marlboros with lots of tradition and then to be able to join the Generals with all their tradition means a lot to me.”
