Vancouver Giants Acquire Matt MacKay from Tigers

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Giants Executive Vice President and General Manager, Scott Bonner, announced today that the Giants have acquired 19 year old (November 27, 1990) centerman, Matt MacKay from the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for a 4th round draft pick in the 2011 Bantam Draft.

MacKay, a native of Calgary, Alberta played 68 games for the Tigers after being acquired in an early season trade with the Moose Jaw Warriors. MacKay is 5’11” and 190 pounds, recorded 23 goals and 29 assists during the regular season, and 3 goals and 2 assists in the 2009/10 playoffs for Medicine Hat. He was a plus 16 with 44 penalty minutes during the 2009/10 campaign.

Scott Bonner said “I am very excited to get Matt. He will add a lot of offense and leadership to our squad. He played for one of the top coaches in the country last season and I know we will be acquiring a player with good habits.”
