Wenatchee's McKellar decides on Canisius

Press Release

The Wenatchee Wild has announced that forward Duncan McKellar has committed to Canisius College (Atlantic Hockey) for the coming fall.

He's the 17th player who competed in January's NAHL Top Prospects Tournament to commit to a Division I school after the event.

“It's great to see Duncan get the opportunity to play Division I hockey next season,” said Wild associate head coach Ryan McKelvie. “Canisius is getting a highly-skilled forward who has tremendous upside.”

This past season, McKellar, a 20-year-old from Phoenix, totaled 14 goals for 32 points in 49 games for the regular-season champion Wild. He was also a plus-19.

“More importantly, Canisius is getting a quality individual who will add character to their team,” said McKelvie. “Duncan's got all the ability to be a big-time college hockey player. I'm excited to see how he does.”

McKellar is the 13th current or former Wild player to hold a commitment to a Division I program for 2010-11 or 2011-12 season.
