Warriors name Alex Grieve as team captain for 2010/11 season

Press Release

The British Columbia Hockey League's Westside Warriors are pleased to announce that 20-year old forward Alex Grieve has been named the team's Captain for the 2010/11 season.

Grieve is entering his third season in Westside and in the BCHL. The Calgary, A.B. product is coming off a career year having scored 26 goals and tallying 50 points. Alex was also the Warriors second leading scorer in eleven playoff games with nine points.

“I am excited to announce Alex as our team captain for the upcoming season,” says Warriors Head Coach Darren Yopyk. “He is respected by all of his teammates because of his selflessness and strong work ethic. He puts the team goals ahead of his own in all situations.”

“He is an excellent role model for all of our players both on and off the ice. The 2010-2011 Warriors are under greater leadership with Alex at the helm.”

Grieve says he owes a lot to past Captains of Westside. Also, to his parents for making him strong willed and respectable on and off the ice.

“I’m going to lead by example and be the best person on and off the ice,” Grieve added. “I know when to be quiet and when to speak up. I know when to get physical, when to score big goals and I’ll do whatever it takes to win.”

The Warriors' assistant captains will officially be named at a later date.
