Windsor Acquires Nick Ebert from Mississauga

Press Release

(Windsor) Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel today announced that the Spitfires have acquired U.S. defenceman Nick Ebert from the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors. Ebert was ranked number one by OHL Central Scouting heading into the 2010 OHL Priority Selection and was selected by the Majors with their first round pick, 17th overall.

The 6’1”, 195 pound rearguard played as a 15 year-old for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League (USHL) along with current Spitfire Brady Vail last season and Ebert scored six goals and 18 points in 53 games for the Black Hawks.

In exchange, the Spitfires have sent second round picks in the 2015 and 2016 OHL Priority Selections to the Majors.

“The Windsor Spitfires are really excited to acquire one of the best 1994 birthdate players in North America. Nick will be a key part of our team this year and will be one of our franchise’s cornerstones. He is a fluent skater who plays an excellent two-way game. He has tremendous pro upside and was one of only two 15 year olds along with Brady Vail to play in the USHL. Nick is eligible for the 2012 NHL Draft and will be attending our training camp starting tomorrow at the WFCU Centre,” said Warren Rychel.
