Stampede announce 23-man roster

The Sioux Falls Stampede announced their 23-man roster for the start of the 2010-2011 season today. The roster includes eight players from last year’s squad which won 33 games. All USHL teams were required to trim their rosters to 23 players following the preseason.

Returning players include forwards Sam Coatta, Brent Darnell, Anthony Day, Matt Tabrum and Dominic Zombo. Clark Cristofoli, Zack Kamrass and Marcus Perrier return on defense.

Day is the Stampede’s top returning scorer after posting 31 points (11g, 20a) in 54 games last season. The Buffalo, NY native has already committed to Yale University. Zombo and Coatta both tallied 21 points last year for the Herd. Kamrass is the top returning defenseman for the club after tallying 13 points (3g, 10a) in 52 games. A native of Atlanta, GA finished second on the team with a plus-15 rating. Perrier returns for his third year with the Herd. He posted nine points last season and team high 135 penalty minutes.

Some of the newcomers on the roster include first round draft pick (11th overall) Daniel Doremus, who spent last season playing for the Colorado Thunderbirds of the Tier I Elite League. The forward finished second on the team in scoring with 41 points (23g, 18a) in 38 games. He has already committed to Denver University. Christian Isackson was recently drafted by the Buffalo Sabres and spent last season at St. Thomas Academy where he was second on the team in scoring with 57 points (25g, 32a).

The Reilly twins, Connor and Ryan are also expected to contribute offensively. Both are committed to the University of Minnesota and are coming off successful senior seasons at the Academy of Holy Angels where Connor led the Stars in scoring with 63 points and Ryan finished fourth with 56 points in 25 games.

Defensively, second round draft choice Jordan Oesterle is on the roster. He spent last season playing with Belle Tire where he recorded 30 points (5g, 25a) in 47 games. Tomas Pastor will also help anchor the blue line. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound defenseman spent last season playing for the Czech Republic U-18 national team.

The Stampede also announced today that Ryan Misiak has been traded to the expansion Muskegon Lumberjacks for a undisclosed draft pick in the 2011 USHL Draft.

The Stampede kick off the 2010-11 season this Saturday when they travel to Sioux City to face the arch rival Musketeers at 7:05 PM. The Stampede’s home opener is set for Friday, October 15th against the U.S. Development Team.
