Marc Fortier joins the QMJHL

Press Release

BOUCHERVILLE, Thursday, October 28, 2010 – The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau, announced today the hiring of Marc Fortier as Director of Recruitment.

Marc Fortier’s main role will be to inform parents and players about the QMJHL’s programs. His participation in minor league teams’ information workshops will allow the QMJHL to convey its messages and explain new initiatives developed by the League and its teams.

“Marc’s arrival is extremely positive for the QMJHL”, said the Commissioner. “He has the experience of playing at a number of levels including the QMJHL and the NHL and he also brings the required life experience which he can convey to both players and parents. He will definitely be an important asset to our team.”

Marc Fortier, who played for the Chicoutimi Saguenéens from 1983 to 1987, also played for 3 NHL franchises: the Quebec Nordiques, the Ottawa Senators and the Los Angeles Kings in his professional career. He completed his career in Europe.

Following Marc Fortier’s arrival, Patrick Charbonneau will hold the title of CSR Director.

Finally, the Commissioner promotes Marcel Patenaude to Executive Vice-President.
