Piston's Harms named Player of Week

Steinbach Piston Tyler Harms recorded two hattricks in three games, earning him MJHL Player of the Week honours.

Harms, who hails from Steinbach, was a one-man scoring machine while on the powerplay, scoring four goals with the man advantage. In total the 20-year-old forward recorded nine points (3-6) in helping the Pistons put together a four-game winning streak.

Harms has been a consistent contributor to the Pistons’ offensive attack, reflected in his 26 points (14-12) in 25 games this season.

Runners-up for the MJHL Player of the Week honours were 19 year old forward Paul Van de Velde of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines and goaltender Joey Rewucki, 19, of the Selkirk Steelers.

Van de Velde, who hails from Mariapolis (west of Morden), recorded nine points (4-5) in three games for the Wolverines.

Rewucki was nearly unbeatable in the Steelers’ net, allowing only five goals on 140 shots. Over a three-game span, the East St. Paul native went undefeated, while recording a sizzling 1.62 GAA and .964 save percentage for the Steelers who sit atop the Addison Division with 18 wins and 40 points.
