Gloucester Rangers Jr “A” hockey club

Press Release

The Gloucester Rangers Jr “A” hockey club was saddened yesterday to hear of the accidental death of Eric Leighton, one of our top prospects for the upcoming season. Eric was drafted in the 4th round in 2010 by the Rangers and he was looking forward to going to their prospect camp in June.

“Eric & I had discussed the opportunities for him this season with the Rangers and that he would be expected to play a role on defense for our team. When Eric was drafted last year, he not only showed us his hockey skills but also our experience and discussions with him demonstrated his maturity and leadership skills both on and off the ice. Many of our players that knew and played with Eric have contacted the team and have expressed how much they will miss his toughness on the team this season,” said Paul Jennings, owner and general manager.

“He was a great kid and will be sadly missed by all the Ranger players, staff and our hockey community and we would like to relay our condolences to Eric’s family on behalf of the Gloucester Ranger Jr “A” organization, as well as the executive and teams of the CCHL,” said Paul Jennings.
