Herd Defenseman Commits to UMass-Lowell

Sioux Falls Stampede defenseman Zack Kamrass has committed to play collegiately hockey beginning next season at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

Kamrass posted 26 points (3g, 23a) in 53 USHL games this season while also serving as assistant captain for the Stampede. He tied for third on the team with 23 assists and ranked second with a plus-15 rating. The 20-year-old posted an even-or-better plus/minus in each of his last nine games of the season, compiling a plus-12 during that time. It was the second USHL season for the Atlanta, Georgia area native. During 110 games in his USHL career, he collected 39 points (6g, 33a) and a plus-30 rating. Kamrass also dished out two assists in 13 career playoff games in the League.

Four other players who spent time in the USHL during the 2010-11 season are committed to UMass-Lowell; Mike Conderman (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Micki Mihailovich (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Colton Saucerman (Dubuque Fighting Saints), and Bill Eiserman (Tri-City Storm).

Kamrass will be reunited with former Stampede teammates Chad Ruhwedel, Dan Furlong, and Josh Holmstrom when he steps on campus this fall. The UMass-Lowell RedHawks are a member of the Hockey East Conference and a had a total of eight USHL alumni on the roster this season; Derek Arnold (Waterloo Black Hawks), Joe Caveney (Sioux City Musketeers), Nick Curry (Sioux City Musketeers), Dan Furlong (Sioux Falls Stampede), Josh Holmstrom (Sioux Falls/Lincoln), T.J. Massie (Tri-City Storm), Will Rayner (Lincoln Stars), and Chad Ruhwedel (Sioux Falls Stampede).
