Braid added to Hounds' blueline

Press Release

Soo Greyhounds GM Kyle Dubas announced that the team has completed their second deal of the day, exchanging defensemen with the Barrie Colts.

In the deal the Hounds acquired 18-year old left shooting defenseman MACKENZIE BRAID and Barrie’s 7th Round pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection in exchange for 19-year old defenseman Derek Hartwick.

“Mackenzie is an elite skater and showed he was also a very versatile player last season with Barrie. This trade allows us to get a year younger and allows Derek to gain a good opportunity in Barrie” stated Dubas.

Braid, a native of Mississauga, ONT stands 6’1” while weighing in at 165 lbs.

“Mackenzie had 12 points, including 5 goals as rookie defender for Barrie and we strongly value his two biggest strengths - skating and puck movement. He also showed a willingness last season to engage physically when required too and feel that with commitment he can become a well rounded defenceman for our hockey club” concluded the Hounds GM.
