SJHL HIRES EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT

Press Release

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is proud to announce the appointment of Garry Gawryliuk as the league’s education consultant.

Gawryliuk has been an educator for 32 years with a majority of those years being spent in the student services department as a counsellor at Yorkton Regional high School. Not only has he been a mentor for students at the Yorkton Regional High School, but other schools in the Yorkton area. He is currently serving as the educational co-ordinator for both the Yorkton Terriers and Melville Millionaires along with the Yorkton Harvest of the Saskatchewan Midget Triple A League.

SJHL President Bill Chow believes Gawryliuk is someone the league needs. “Not only do we want to see our teams play an entertaining brand of hockey, but we want the players that bring that entertaining game each and every night to have a chance at a solid education when their SJHL career is over,” Chow said. “I believe putting Garry in this position will strengthen our vision when it comes to education and that it will result in more players having an opportunity to continue their careers at a Canadian or American college or university which is what we as a league strive to do.”

Gawryliuk welcomes the opportunity that he is being given and is looking forward to helping SJHL players achieve the education they seek.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to join the SJHL in the capacity as an Educational Consultant. I very much look forward to working with all the teams and coaches this up-coming season and my motto will be "It's All About Working Together".” Gawryliuk said. “The coaches and hockey players in this league will be given a template that will give them some powerful life options to consider when they look at their educational and vocational options as they go through their hockey careers in this league. Let the puck drop now.
